After receiving numerous submissions from around the United States for our first-ever Sterno Bring the Heat Award, our internal panel of judges have announced a winner: Alexis Baker of CitySquare, Dallas, Texas.
We want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the Sterno Bring the Heat award to extend our congratulations to everyone who was nominated.
Alexis was nominated for her role as the Food Recovery Manager for CitySquare, an anti-poverty non-profit organization in Dallas, Texas. Alexis spearheaded a program that took donations of food from area restaurants, caterers, and grocery stores and turned them into a program that prepared and served tens of thousands of meals for the city’s needy.
Alexis, a graduate of the Culinary Arts Institute of America, was able to create inspirational and delicious meals and make a real difference in her community while advocating for solutions to food waste in Dallas and beyond. At Sterno, we are proud to award Alexis a commemorative plaque and $5,000 honorarium in recognition as our first honoree of the Sterno Bring the Heat Award.
As we celebrate Alexis and her achievements, we are preparing for the chance to provide the same opportunity to another lucky individual in 2023. We will continue to support and recognize foodservice individuals who show up to work every day and bring their best. The Bring the Heat Award was created to celebrate and reward those hard-working and innovators in the foodservice industry - from every sector of the industry, including servers, bartenders, dishwashers, prep and line cooks.
Congratulations Alexis Baker! We can’t wait to see who will join you in the winner’s circle next year.
